Pet Safety

Your keys will be safe with us. We have them numbered and locked away in a secure location. Each number is then cross-referenced in a separate location so no one will be able to take your key and know which house the key goes with. By keeping a key in our possession, all it takes is a phone call to schedule your next reservation. If you get held up at work or decide to go out to dinner, all you have to do is call and arrange for a sitter and you are free and your pets will be taken care of.

If you request we can leave your key in a determined location after our last visit. We don’t like to leave your key in the house in case we need to make another visit because plans unexpectedly change. We also discourage leaving keys in mailboxes or under doormats for safety reasons. If we need to pick-up or drop-off a key after your initial visit, we charge an extra $10.00 per trip.

Every possible precaution will be made to keep your pet(s) safe. But to further insure your pets’ safety, all pets in the care of Not Home Alone will be provided a temporary id tag with our phone number

To help keep your pet(s) healthy and free of carrying pathogens, germs, and other diseases from other animals, we sanitize our hands before each pet sitting. This also suppresses potential smells your pet(s) may scent from our other clients which will keep them calm and well-behaved.

For our regular dog walking clients, if the weather is inclement, we will turn the dog walking visit into an in-house visit.

Of course, we will let your dog outside to do it’s business, but we want to make sure your dog is healthy by avoiding heat stress, cold or being totally drenched.

In the event of inclement weather, we request on your contract the name and phone number of a person living nearby. If we are physically unable to reach your home due to impassable roads, please provide us with this information so that we can contact this person to request assistance. Your pet’s health and well-being is our utmost concern and we will contact you as soon as possible to keep you informed of these events.

Fenced in yards are wonderful playgrounds for dogs and allows them additional space to exercise and play. However, no fence system is totally secure. We do not accept responsibility or liability for any client’s animals that escape or become lost or injured, fatal or otherwise, when instructed to leave your pet in a fenced area. This includes electronic, wood, metal, or any other type of fence.

Yes. We require all dogs to be on a leash during outdoor walks.

Animal behavior can be unpredictable. We will not permit your dog(s) to interact with strange dogs. If stray dogs that are off leash approach, we will do our best to keep interaction at a minimum and move away from them. We do not accept responsibility for the cost of any necessary medical attention required by ourselves or the animals.
